Uncapped FPS
Browsers cap your FPS by default, this means that you can not get a higher FPS than the refresh rate of your screen.
So if the refresh rate of your screen is 60Hz you can only get 60FPS max.
Uncapping FPS
With the following trick you can uncap the FPS and play with unlimited FPS.
This part of the guide is made for Google Chrome on Windows which is the recommended browser for this step.
For other operating systems or browsers please just do a search online.
-
Close Chrome if it's opened
-
Create a shortcut icon for Chrome if you don't have one yet.
Open the file location by right clicking the app on your PC and selecting "Open file location"
Now right click Chrome app again in file explorer and select "Create shortcut"
You might have to click on "Show more options" on Windows 11 before you see this option.
You will be prompted if you want to create it on the desktop, just select yes. -
Now right click the shortcut on your desktop and select "Properties"
Or select the shortcut and pressALT + ENTER
This will open the properties window of the Chrome shortcut. -
Modify the target (some times called destination) field in the properties window.
Add the following text on the end of it after the closing quote.
--args --disable-frame-rate-limit
-
Launch chrome from the shortcut icon
You should now have unlimited FPS
Check your FPS
To check your FPS in the game you can open the debug overlay.
By default the key bind for this is either =
or ~
.
Just press either of these keys and you should see your FPS in game on the top right.
Use Opera GX browser
If you get a lot of lag when playing with uncapped you might have to use Opera GX.
And to be more specific you need a specific version of this browser to not get lag.
- Navigate to this link
https://get.opera.com/ftp/pub/opera_gx/92.0.4561.71/win/ - Download the setup.exe
Opera_GX_92.0.4561.71_Setup.exe - Install the browser
- Now follow the initial instructions again.
Create a shortcut and add the args to unlock unlimited FPS.
